Look at how low the heels are... But I love them. Love the metallic band. Perfect for warm weather dress up when I have to chase O around.

Scrutiny
I know what you all are thinking - "I can't believe Mrs. Ho puts her kid in crocs."
I KNOW.
Crocs are so very ugly. But Olivia LOVES them. Calls them her "crocodiles." They are really comfortable and aerate her perpetually hot feet.
*hangs head in shame*

Saturday Fever (no more)
Life is back to normal. Olivia's fever is gone. I actually ended up taking her to the doctor that day because she just didn't seem like herself. They diagnosed her with a random virus. Not very helpful but good to know it wasn't an infection or anything. They had to check her ears and they could not see through it because of the wax. So the nurse had to pin her head down and I had to hold her knees down so they could take it out. It was so heartbreaking to see her sobbing. I think she was more terrified than anything else. But to see how much wax came out of a baby's ear... Wow.
Anyway, today was a great day. I cleaned, did laundry. We took Olivia to Tysons because I had ordered some shoes online - Sam Edelman Marina Pump in red suede. I love them. They are a great shade of red! I don't know where I'm wearing them but I'll figure that out. I actually just added another pair to my shopping cart. I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger on them just yet.

It was close to dinner time so we decided to go to Honey Pig! I haven't been there since I was pregnant! I never wanted to take Olivia there when she was younger because it is crazy loud and very smoky from the BBQ. But it was great today! The food was delish and Olivia was content eating rice, steamed egg, some seaweed banchan and watching Pororo. We ended the day with swings at the park. The weather was so nice! Not hot at all.
Great news. We have two new additions to the family! Mr. Ho's second cousin in Toronto had a baby boy and his cousin in Pittsburgh also had a boy! The new generations are growing by the minute. Now we are just eagerly awaiting the arrival of SIL's baby girl! I had a dream last night that we surprised her with a visit to Australia. She lived in a sick 4-level apartment and had so many people over to see the baby. I was trying to hold her but she was getting passed around all these old people and they had her wrapped up in a plastic bag.
Well, I guess I should see what Mr. Ho is up to in the basement. Bye, peeps!

Stuck
I'm stuck in the car bc Olivia fell asleep and I want her to nap since her sleep as been so wack lately.
I got a spray tan for a wedding this past Saturday. I went to Smooth Exposure in Mclean. I really love it!! I feel so much better about myself. Lol. I look alive and not a ghost. It cost $45 to get nekkid for a lady to spray me down. It wasn't pleasant but not terrible either. I want to be tan all the time. I'm going to get some St. Tropez self tanner. It's supposed to be the best one on the market. I will test and do a review.
The wedding was so great. It was beautiful to witness a marriage. And I also really loved having some time alone with my husband and friends. And I especially loved getting dressed up and wearing my new shoes! I finally found some nude shoes. I got YSL Tributes. I felt like a million bucks!
Ok I guess I will peruse the interwebz.

Is this Real Life?
A few things...
I think my feet grew?!! I can't explain it. I tried on my friend's size 5s and felt like they fit me. So, I went to Nordstrom and tried on a pair of sandals and they fit!! So of course, I snatched them right up. I was in disbelief so I made Mr. Ho double-confirm that they fit. Even he was surprised!
Olivia and I went to the mall again. We didn't leave the house all week. I didn't have any errands to run and the weather was so terrible. But I couldn't take it anymore so we went to Tysons. We first had lunch with Mr. Ho and my brother. And then perused the mall. I ended up buying some Benefit High Tint at Sephora and the sandals. I tried on some Ray Ban Wayfarers but the damn sales lady convinced me to get these new Chanels that came out today.
Here's some more good news! We are taking a vacation! YAYYY!!! I don't think we've been anywhere since SIL got married in Hong Kong! Mr. Ho has to go to Vegas for the Money Show so I'm taking Olivia to Mississippi. We will spend about 8 days there and we, plus my mother, will fly out to California to meet Mr. Ho. We'll spend 2 weeks in Laguna Beach visiting family and just relaxing at the beach. We are going to rent a house near the beaches. Then we'll spend the weekend in Santa Barbara with Mr. Ho's aunt. I am SOOOO excited!!! I get very giddy thinking about the sunshine. Imagining Olivia play at the beach against the blue sky makes my heart sing. And I can already taste the In N Out. YUM!
I am, however, INCREDIBLY nervous about the time zone change. At least we'll spend a decent amount of time in Mississippi (one hour change) so it'll only be a 2 hour change once we hit the west coast. I've been trying to use the power of visualizing. I'm visualizing Olivia being cranky so I can prepare myself for it. I'm visualizing Olivia not sleeping at night, not napping, screaming on the plane.... UGH. Anxiety.
I think that's all for now. I spent the past week obsessing over vacation rentals. I'll let you know when I find one.

SIL's VA Wedding
24 hours from now, I hope to be drunk and happy that SIL's wedding went without a hitch! Please send me good vibes for my speech. I'm already getting nervous!
I wore my Loubs for the 2nd time today. I am in love. They are amazingly comfortable! Much more than the YSLs.
OK, need to stop procrastinating and go do an aspirin mask, take a shower, and get some beauty rest!
Will update later.
Goodnight!

Ramblings
The weekend was a lot of fun. Friday night, Mr. Ho and I went to see Russell Peters at the DC Improv and we had such a great time! The opening act, Mike Young, was so funny. I think he's coming out with a HBO special soon. But no one compares to Russell. Mr. Ho feared he would recycle his old stuff, but he kept it fresh and hilarious! He is so good at making fun of people in the audience. I would definitely go see him again. You know why else this was a good night? I got to wear my Loubs for the first time! I wish the bottoms would never scuff.
Saturday, Mr. Ho and I had dimsum with SIL, BIL, and Grandma Ho at Mark's Duck House. Afterwards, we picked up Big A and took him to the Fairfax Fair. I haven't been to a fair in so long and it just showed me how much I have aged. Rides that I used to LOVE now make me feel so damn nauseous. Heights that used to thrill me scare the crap out of me. At least A had lots of fun! We took him to eat at Todai and the boy ate 4 avocado rolls, broccoli, green hello, pineapples, edamame, and some grapes. He is too funny. We were exhausted after the day with him (babysitting is great birth control) so we just watched Bolt and went to sleep.
Sunday, we went to church and then went to DC to pick up crabs at the waterfront. Mr. Ho had wanted to go to Orlando to celebrate our 1-year but I wanted to keep it low-key - crabs and beer! Too bad Mr. Ho had a horrible allergic reaction and broke out in hives. He took 2 Benadryl and passed out. It was definitely a low-key celebration :(
I can't believe SIL's wedding is less than a week! I'm so excited that DHuang and my parents will be in town!
Ok fine. I'll go Clorox the crap out of my bathroom. Later.

Where a Kid Can Be a Kid
SIL bought us some tanning sessions at the local tanning salon and I went with her for the first time last week. The last time I went tanning was for our trip to Vegas and in preparation for the Grand Cayman sun. I think after that, I may have gone spray-tanning. I do love a good tan but am worried about all the damage it can do to your skin. I tried the HT High Pressure Booth and I definitely saw a change within an hour. Supposedly, UVB rays are blocked completely so your tan will last longer. Anyway, tanning booths have changed so much since I was a teen. They are very high tech. But all I could think of with every little noise were the bulbs combusting and me frying to death.
However, I shall go again.
Well, only because I have three weddings to be in this summer and two of the dresses wash me out a bit because I'm so pale. Within the next nine months, I'm in four weddings. Fun! No seriously, I love weddings.
This past weekend was pretty fun. Friday, we stayed in and watched Vicky Christina Barcelona, which I loved. Penelope Cruz really deserved her Oscar with this performance. She was passionate and embodied an emotional rollercoaster. Not to mention, absolutely beautiful. I always thought she wasn't that pretty, but still photographs don't do her justice. We also watched Yes Man with Jim Carrey, which I loved, too. Zooey Deschanel is so adorable and I loved when Jim Carrey learned Korean. Hilarious.
Saturday, we went to Mr. Ho's co-worker's wedding. I totally teared up when the bride walked down the aisle with her father. That crap gets me every time. I broke out the YSL shoes for the first time and they were a sight to behold. Too bad my dress was way long and you could hardly see them. But, man, I felt them. I have to break those suckers in. After not wearing heels everyday, its painful when I do wear them.
Sunday, went to church and then took BFFF's son to Chuck E Cheese. Hmm.... I haven't been to this establishment in decades and I'd have to say, if it weren't for my infinite love of the A-man, I don't think I'd ever step foot in there again. Hot, crowded, loud, dancing mouse... But I will go there for the pizza. And watching Mr. Ho and SIL playing more games than the kids. Sunday night, we watched Doubt, which was ok.
I hope this beautiful weather holds up. Bad weather takes a toll on my mood.
Mr. Ho is home. Till later, peeps.

A Dream Come True
Dear Readers,
Remember when I posted a public prayer to God lamenting why, oh why, there were no hot shoes in my size? Well, prayer works, people. No matter how shallow or superficial the topic may be!
Let me reveal why I am strictly following a USA no-buy policy:

The first pair are the YSL Tribute Slingbacks and the second are the Christian Louboutin Madame Claude Leopard Patents. ALL IN MY SIZE 4!! Yes, both are pricey and if you want to know the price, you can google it. Anyway, I keep chanting my girl, Miss JChae's mantra - price per wear! So far, I haven't worn either, thus it doesn't apply.
They are both so BEAUTIFUL -- very versatile and will be easy to wear. I've always loved an all-black ensemble with a pair of hot leopard shoes. I'm lucky Mr. Ho is so supportive of my shopping habits.
I hope all of you, my dearest readers, can find some way to do your civic duty to stimulate the economy. And then go on a sudden no-buy because you're scared to total your receipts.
Till next time,
Mrs. Ho

Boots & Bedding
Lately, I've been preoccupied with a couple things - finding the perfect pair of flat black leather boots and finalizing our bedding. I should be more Christmas-focused, especially since our name is written all over this holiday - HO HO HO, anyone?
First, I've been coveting these Loeffler Randall boots since I saw a picture of Blake Lively wearing them in a magazine. I even cut out the picture - more on my magazine reading habits another day. Retails around $700.

Days of internet searching later, I find these babies, at the lowest price of $91 AND a size 5!

I do have one question though: I don't get the flat sheet. The way you tuck it in? What is the point of it? It always ends up pissing me off in the middle of the night because it's tangled between my legs. Someone enlighten me, please.
This perfect bed obsession is pretty fruitless because we NEVER make the bed. I find it so pointless. Why waste time and energy when the situation will be the same 12 hours later? But I do have some bed rules, which are:
1. You must shower before getting into bed.
2. Don't put any foreign objects on the bed - dirty clothes, bags, etc...
3. Duvet buttons must always be at the top when sleeping.
4. Don't get NEAR the bed in clothes you've worn outdoors or near Rocky.
5. I don't like anyone other than Mr. Ho or myself to touch, sit, and especially lay on our bed.
It comes down to one rule, really. Keep the bed clean! It's only for our benefit. Bed bugs are NASTY! And germs are worse.
This blog entry made me out to be a bit OCD, huh? I know I have control issues. Maybe I'll try to work on them as a new year resolution.
Probably not!

Readers, you know my problem (refer to the entry dated November 10, 2008). With boots and sneakers, I can get by with a size 5 or when I'm desperate, a 5.5. Well, I decided I need flat black boots. And once I decide I need something, I NEED it. It's this uncontrollable urge that consumes me.
Days of internet searching later, I find these babies, at the lowest price of $91 AND a size 5!

Pretty damn good match, right?! (Soaking in your awe of my bargain hunting saavy...)
Now bedding is another story. You must go to the store to inspect quality and color. We just painted our room a blue-gray with white moldings and I want a mostly white bed with gray touches. I go to Bed Bath & Beyond because we have a lot of store credit from the wedding and I love their 20% coupons. I almost bought these 800 count sheets but Pure Beech bedding caught my eye. If you need new sheets, please buy these. They are the softest sheets EVER, good for sensitive skin, eco-friendly, keeps you cool, AND stays bright wash after wash.
I've grown up with one pillow, one blanket, and one fitted sheet. But this time around, I want a bed with tons of pillows and just so fluffy looking you want to stay in bed all day long (not that I need that).

Just Between Me & God
Dear God.

It's me, Mrs. Ho. You have provided so many blessings in my life and I am forever grateful to You. However, there is just ONE thing that burdens me. Something I ask myself every single day.
Why, oh why, are my feet so small?
My feet are just not proportionate to the rest of my body. Well, I guess they balance out my miniscule hands. But it's not like I'm on the short side. And I'm petite but not anorexic. So what's the deal? The only rational explanation could be is that You know I have a tendency to covet. Shoes like this:

Maybe You can throw me a bone when I get pregnant and make my feet grow. Just a size. Even a size 5 would be fantastic! A size 4 is just hard. I only get options like this:

Not that I'm not thankful for options, but really... REALLY? That's all I get?
*sigh*
In the end, I know why You made my feet as small as You did. To save me money. You're just looking out for my best interest, like always and I thank You. I would be in debt if I could fit into $900 shoes. Mr. Ho thanks you for that, too.
Oh, before I end this prayer, just wanted to give You props for giving us a President with such swagger. You did good.

Amen.
Don't think I would neglect my FIVE FUN FACTS because I had to have a delicate conversation with God. By the way, I was thinking that if I ever win an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, or Community Service award, I would definitely give a shout-out to God first. Wouldn't you?
1. My brother and I used to cut holes into our pajamas so we would get new ones.
2. I was hospitalized for a kidney infection when I was in second grade and all I craved was a Filet-O-Fish.
3. For my first trip to the optometrist, I knew I wanted glasses just like my Daddy. So I lied during my eye doctor test. Boy, that was a mistake. I'd be on the second floor of my house, look out the window, and the grass was literally 2 feet away - magnified like crazy. Oops.
4. My parents brought home a new van. It was red. I hated it, threw a fit, and they took it back and brought home a gold one. Spoiled, much?
5. Another story of my youth. One time I found these bumps on the back of my tongue. My mom took me to the doctor. Diagnosis? Taste buds.
