Congratulations!

B graduated from med school today! So exciting! Of course, Mrs. Park threw a great party at Charlie Palmer in DC.

The invites were prescription pill bottles with Mike&Ikes. She made the cake pops, which were delicious. And goodie bags were first aid kits.

In the words of Mr. Ho, she's good.

You know who wasn't good? Olivia. She def was not on her best behavior.

Anyway, congrats again to the newly minted Dr. Park!

Saturday

Today Mr. Ho played football and then we went to my mothers's friends's art show. I've known her since I was 3. She's such a sweet and talented lady! She was the one who made Olives 1 year bday cake.

Then we went to my dear friend Js house to celebrate her 30th! She had a picnic theme. And a camping theme downstairs complete with a starry night and s'mores! I didn't get a chance
To get a pic of that. Love my girls.

Ummm...

Apparently fish come up to the surface for air? I thought Fish E. Ho was just crazy? Shows you how much I know!

How was everyone's Saturday? Mine was great! We went grocery shopping as a fam in the morning. Jen and Jess came by in the afternoon. Olivia really, really loves those girls. She was very loving and playful with both of them. We snuck out finally to go to Spa World. You know how with some people you just can't wait for the conversation to dwindle so you can go home? It's never that way with them. Time flies when the three of us get together. Love them to death.

I tried to update my iPhone but my Air doesn't have any room. Annoyed about that.

And no, Olivia did not pee pee in the potty today.

Good night!

Ddeh Mee Lee

Last night, I went to Spa World with two girlfriends. We went into the saunas to sweat. Had some refreshing Shik-kae. Soaked in the hot tubs. And then got the best scrub-down. Basically, you lay on this table au naturale and a korean lady scrubs down a layer of your skin - dead skin cells. You see these dirty pellets of skin just come off you. It is AMAZING. I felt SOOO clean and so soft afterwards! I am so doing to do this again. It sounds crazy but it was tres relaxing!

Summarize

Hello Party People. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I sure did. Our last weekend in town before we go off on our West Coast adventure! Here's my weekend update...

Friday: Olivia went to Tysons to return several items that I ordered online. A few stuff for her from Old Navy and Gymboree. I ended up purchasing a few items for myself - a JLO-style hat, red linen romper and denim-ish shirt for Mr. Ho at Urban Outfitters, and a blouse, tank, and dress from H&M. It was a good shopping day. I don't cook on Fridays. We like to call it Sushi Friday because Mr. Ho gets me carryout sushi from Arigato almost every Friday. Yum.

Saturday: It was SUCH a beautiful day! We went grocery shopping in the morning and Mr. Ho decided he wanted to smoke pork in the BBQ. It takes ALLLLLL day but the end result is pure deliciousness. Jen and Jess swung by the house and we decided to go to Spa World! Spa World, for those who don't know, is a Korean Bathhouse. Ladies and Gentlemen have their separate locker rooms and bathing pools. You can get massages or scrubs. And you have to be butt-naked. You can join the opposite sex in the common area where they have these different huts of different temperatures and elements to sweat out your impurities. I really love it. I think we might try to do this on a regular basis.

Today: The weather was not as nice and it was quite the lazy Sunday. We ate brunch at Artie's and that's pretty much it. Mr. Ho is at football right now and I'm waiting for the laundry to dry so I can fold it. Today is also my mother's birthday and Olivia's 14th month!

My BFFF sent me this link the other day. It's someone's blog and it is HILARIOUS! I feel like DHuang sent it to me before but I forgot all about it. You guys should read it and have a big laugh.

New Year, New Life

Hello 2010. You are 26 days old.

The New Year has been good to me so far. We celebrated by going to dinner at 2941 and having their tasting menu. It really was one of the best meals I've had in my life. Even though I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest since I couldn't have the raw foods or eat the Kobe beef the right way, it was still out of this world delicious. I really love me some truffles - shaved, oil, whatever. We actually finished dinner around 11:15 PM so we came home. We rang in the new year in our comfortable bed with my favorite Wegmans Sparkling Grape Juice. Mr. Ho passed out soon after. Good times!

We also took our one and only trip during this entire pregnancy. Ms. Kang, now the newly minted Mrs. Park got married in New Jersey. The wedding was so beautiful and special. I was a ball of hormones. The tears started as soon as she hit the aisle. And especially when she was dancing with her father. Her day also coincided with my birthday so I did spend my birthday weekend in NYC, eating xiao lum bao (I never remember how to spell that) and Milk Bar ice cream, cookies, and pork buns! Mr. Ho also spoiled me with some amazing gifts from Chanel - you can never go wrong with that.

So, I am 32 weeks now. The countdown has truly begun. Olivia's room is pretty much finished! Dad Ho came to hang up the mirror for us today. I just have to do some major laundry but will wait till the beginning of March to do it so it doesn't collect dust - a la Mom Lim's request. Her furniture is beautiful and everything goes so well with the paint and chandelier. Man, applying the decals to her wall was NO JOKE. Mr. Ho thoroughly impressed me with his patience and attention to detail. I was the one who wanted to half-ass it and ignore the air bubbles. But I guess he really wanted to make his daughter's room as perfect as he could! #1 Daddy already!

Two Saturdays ago, Mr. Ho and I took a Birthing Class, essentially a Lamaze course. It was info-packed but we did do some breathing exercises for contractions. You'll never know how it feels until you experience them for yourself, so I can't imagine what labor will be like. I hate being touched when sick. The instructor was encouraging us to hold hands and look into each other's eyes to focus. It was all fun and games during the exercises but I'm scared I will turn into an evil bitch when the time comes. Hopefully, I won't be too mean. Hopefully, Mr. Ho won't take it personally. In advance, I LOVE YOU, MR. HO! Don't hate me during labor!

I guess no one knocked on wood because I had a brief encounter with constipation and hemmroids. TMI? I don't care. You or your significant other will (most likely) have them too when with child.

This little girl could be making her debut anywhere from 5-10 weeks! Insanity.

Happy Birthday To You!

This is a bit early, but I wanted to wish Miss. Chae, the happiest birthday!  She is convinced her birthday is cursed, but I'd like to think the best one is to come!

Welcome to the 27 club, girl.  I can't wait to celebrate with you this weekend!  Love you, dearly!  xoxo

Detergent...Everywhere

Today started out like all my other Mondays - cleaning and laundry day.  I clean the entire house, minus the basement since that's the brother's territory, and I do all the laundry - whites, darks, sheets, towels, Rocky's bedding, rags, etc.

I've pretty much finished the first floor when my mom calls.  While we are chatting, I happen to hear a slight *boom* from the laundry room but I thought nothing of it because our washing machine and dryer make random noises here and there.

After our weekend catch-up, I go to get the laundry and ... I just have no words to describe what it looked like.  Hence, the title of this blog - DETERGENT...EVERYWHERE.  That "slight *boom*" was my detergent bottle falling on the floor and spilling it's concentrated ickiness ALL OVER THE DAMN place.  And I mean ALL over.  It's definitely BEHIND the dryer.

I was so distraught!  I contemplated taking a picture of the mess for my dear readers, but my control issues kicked in hardcore and I started cleaning immediately.  It was awful.  Concentrated detergent has somewhat of a substance to it so it hadn't spread too, too badly.  But I had to drag the dryer and get behind there and start cleaning.  Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, because I noticed that the dryer tube thingy was just taped on - not clamped.  Plus, there was a lot of lint back there, so maybe cleaning that out will prevent a fire in the future.  (I'm just trying to find the silver lining because my hands and feet still feel like they have a slight detergent coating to them.  Yuck.  And my back is killing me.  Oy vey, I feel old).  I went to Home Depot to get this circular thingymajigy and screwdrived that thing onto the dryer tube thingy.  And it was a success!

Super proud of myself, but exhausted.  I don't know when was the last time I used a screwdriver.  The detergent fiasco cost me 3.5 hours and my chores were extended into the evening.  My therapist, wine - and lots of it, is doing its healing.

Danny's birthday party was a success.  He had a lot of fun and I did as well!  I told myself I'd stick with wine and keep it cool.  But I changed my mind and stuck with vodka - extra dirty Grey Goose martinis, my fav.  The Moet was probably my tipping point.  Long story short, it got a little rowdy after we left the lounge and my ghetto side kicked in - without Patron, apparently.  I got in some chick's face (because she was yelling at my brother and everyone knows I am uber-protective over that boy) and started pulling her hair.  Thankfully, Mr. Ho saved the day and pulled me away before any damage could occur.  My hero <3...>

BIGGG CONGRATULATIONS to the future Dr. and Mrs. Park on their engagement!!!

Time for a WEEKEND UPDATE!

Mr. Ho came home late on Friday.  We headed over to ARA, a bar in Annandale, to see our good friend who recently moved to NYC.  For those who don't know, Annandale is a mini Korea-town.  Well, Korean/Spanish-town.  I find this city useful for the food, but not much more.  Even though I am full-on Korean on the outside, I could not be more white on the inside.  Hello, my name is Mrs. Ho and I am a Twinkie.

We pull up to ARA and I already know this is going to be my AZN Nightmare.  Although some are friendly faces, let's face it, it wouldn't matter if none of us saw each other again.  I just see so many people who are obviously fake to my face  and a lot of wannabes.  Almost like this!

JUST KIDDING!  I googled "asian wannabes" and this is what I got.

(Dear God, I'm sorry for being such a hater.  Some of my closest and dearest friends are asian and I love them.  I'll work on being so judgmental.)  The only beacon of light was in the form of both Ms. Chaes and a few of their friends.  I guess all that matters is the company you keep.  But the HIGHLIGHT of my night was when Mr. Ho and I went to 7-11 and he bought me Shin Ramen and Blue Gatorade - my drinking remedies.  I slurped down every drop of soup like it was my last meal and peaced out for the night!

Saturday, I nursed my baby-hangover while Mr. Ho played flag football.  Before he left, he kissed me goodbye and told me my breath stank.  And then I ate a Chapaghetti.  YUM!  After he got home, I rushed him out of the house so we could pick up Alex (4 years old) and meet Mackenzie (6 years old) to see High School Musical 3!  Let's face it, I needed some kind of cover-up for why I wanted to see HSM3 and so I tricked these two kids into being my decoys.  Whatever, I had a date with Zac Efron at 2:40 PM and I wasn't going to stand him up.  Some parts of the movie made me feel very uncomfortable - like Vanessa Hudgens cleavage.  After spending some time with the Wiltshire clan, we ended the night with some Fuddruckers.  Mr. Ho had a huge burger and chili fries.  I had a chicken caesar salad - smothered in dressing - with a loaded baked potato and polished off the rest of his fries.

Sunday, I went to church alone while Mr. Ho met with a prospective Spring flag football team, which he turned down so he can uphold his Sunday church duties.  Picked up some Soondooboo from Lighthouse Tofu and lounged around.  Now I'm sitting here watching Rock of Love Charm School and finishing up Penne Rosa pasta from Noodle + Company.  With all the food I ate this weekend, now I know why my stomach feels like utter crap.

This was a boring entry, but here is what you were waiting for, FIVE FUN FACTS about yours truly.

1.  When I started fifth grade, the powers that be put me in a gifted & talented program because they sez I wuz smart.  And then I got the worst grades of my life.  I showed them who was boss!
2.  My aunt used to make me put on dance shows whenever she had guests over.  To the tunes of Paula Abdul and/or Janet Jackson.
3.  I can't swim.  I was traumatized during swim lessons as a young gal, but it is one of my resolutions for 2009.  Michael Phelps, watch your back, yo!
4.  Garlic, how I love thee.  If a recipe calls for 3 cloves of garlic, I put in 6.  Or 8.
5.  Back in high school, a deer ran through our front screen door and ran around the first floor of our house, leaving blood all over the walls.  I was in my room and thought it was a burglar and called 911.  Three cop cars showed up and all we had to show for it was deer fur and blood.  Needless to say, I don't sympathize with dead deer on the roads.  Take that Bambi's mom!
